5-2-1-0 Youth Health Lifestyles Project

Welcome to the EMHS Youth Healthy Lifestyle Project Website!

5210 EMHS

Background

In 2008, Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems (EMHS) created the Youth Healthy Lifestyle Project (YHLP) to address childhood obesity in its seven county service region. The project provides technical assistance and support for community groups to create and implement local initiatives to stem the increase in childhood obesity.

In 2009, EMHS YHLP adopted the Let's Go! model to address childhood obesity in Central and Northern Maine. The program is following the Let's Go! model by working in several settings to reach families in several places with the same messages to promote health lifestyle behaviors in Aroostook, Hancock, Kennebec, Penobscot, Piscataquis, Somerset and Washington counties.

The EMHS YHLP will offically close on September 30, 2013. Let’s Go! and the Kids CO-OP based out of Portland will continue to work with our existing EMHS Let’s Go! Dissemination Partners to ensure continued policy development and environmental change, while providing direct technical assistance, support, evaluation, and statewide marketing and media efforts. Reeve Chace, Let’s Go! Program Manager will be the Dissemination Lead for all established Let’s Go! Dissemination Partners in the EMHS region. For more information you may reach Reeve by e-mail or by phone at 207.661.3531.
